He sat down at a random bench in front of a small hot dog stand at the big Northbound Mall.
He let out a long puff of hot air from his lips, tired of walking around endlessly.
He was looking for a new pair of shoes - his old ones were falling apart and the thin piece of duck tape he had put of them to keep them together, weren't much support.
He kept trying to convince himself that he had no other shoes, that he must buy new ones, and he had to get them today, only today, no other day would do.
He slowly sat back and expended his legs out in front of him, looking at the shoes.
By the looks of them, they told a story.
A story of wear and tare.
The old skate park had sucked the life out of them.
But what could he say? The shoes gave him a couple of good years.
He then sat back up as something caught hold of his attention.
In line for the hot dog stand, she stood, hand intertwined with a stranger to his eyes.
'Boyfriend?' questioned his thoughts as she gave the stranger and small playful push and than began giggling uncontrollably.
He knew she was going to be at the mall today, but not with another guy.
As much as he hated to admit it, he missed her.
But of course he wouldn't let her or anyone else know that.
It would take a hit at his ego and his ego couldn't take any more hits.
' "It's totally cool if you tell everyone you dumped me" ' he thought to himself as he replayed, the exact words she had told him, in his mind.
Two weeks they've been apart - him struggling to smile to another soul, while she found a new boy toy.
It stung, it started to hurt him to see her smiling at this stranger the way she was.
